The Hudson Green HullGuard

Introduction
We give the hull of our boats the most scrutiny and attention when we bring her out at the close season and place her back in looking forward to a great summer on the water. However, the damage our hulls receive from rubbing fenders throughout the season can go unseen until it requires costly remedial action to return it to pristine condition. Hudson Green have developed a solution to help sail and power boat owners make significant savings on maintenance, keep their hulls looking great, taking the strain out of protecting our hulls and preserving the re-sale value of their investment.

About the HullGuard
The Hudson Green HullGuard® is a near-invisible series of patches that adhere to the sides of hulls where fenders rub and can scratch & scuff gel-coat and paintwork. Available in 3 different sizes small, medium and large, the Hudson Green HullGuard® can cater for most boats and fenders. Other sizes are available to order from Hudson Green.

HullGuards create a barely-visible sacrificial barrier between the fender and the hull, which means that gel-coat re-polishing and repainting tasks are significantly reduced. Depending on the size of boat, re-polishing a gel-coat can cost upwards of £150 each year, so the HullGuards offer a simple, great-value preventative solution. The HullGuard could last up to three years, depending on the level of wear received, meaning that the cost savings will continue to accrue.

Whereas many boat owners will be familiar with fender socks, the problem still remains that salt and sand can become caught in the fender sock and exacerbate any potential damage the fender could do. The HullGuard, however, stops the fender from getting close to the sides of the Hull.

HullGuards are similar to products used by luxury car owners such as Aston Martin, Ferrari and Porsche, where the owners of these cars employ HullGuard technology to protect their bonnet and bumpers against stone-chips.

Suitable applications
HullGuards are suitable for all types of boat, power and sail alike, however boat owners should be savvy in deciding which size to choose for their boat. Larger boats with fairly vertical hulls to the waterline may be best suited to the large size, whereas smaller boats with more pronounced v-hulls may find that small or medium are adequate as the fenders may tend to rub in one small arc. Nevertheless, the large size may be appropriate for boats whose fenders are not always positioned at the same level.

Instructions:
The HullGuard is set apart from other products in its ease of application. Each set of HullGuards come with full-colour instructions and illustrations to help the DIY boat owner and professional alike.
